  1. gLite Release News
    • gLite release details can be found here
    • Now in Production: gLite 3.1 Update 33 released contain: Proxy Server, lcg-CE, glite-BDII, Clients (UI, WN, VOBOX), New version of YAIM core
      • Immediately after the release a defect in the information published
by the BDII was found. The issue is currently under investigation - more information in next point of operations news
    • Now in PPS: gLite 3.1 PPS Update 37 released contain: LB, glite-UI, glite-BDII, glite-VOMS, glite-PX
    • Soon in Production: gLite 3.1 Update 34 released will contain: LB, glite-UI, glite-BDII, glite-VOMS, FTS for SL4
  2. The status of gLite 3.1 Update 33 - defect in the glite- BDII
    • The “chown” problem reported by Michel Jouvin does not affect sites
that use YAIM for their configurations
. A fix for this problem has
been coded and a new bdii version is being certified. It is expected
to be released to the production system this week.
    • The glite-BDII (top-level BDII) meta-rpm for Update 33 was removed
on Friday and the previous meta-rpm was changed to
require exactly the previous version (3.9.1-5) of the bdii rpm.
Sites that already upgraded their top-level BDIIs before these
changes may want to downgrade. Resource and site BDIIs were not seen to display the instabilities described in Savannah bug #42727, therefore the meta-rpms for other
node types have not been changed.
  3. Proposal of process for removing SA1 support for old gLite services
Proposed process for removing support from obsolete glite services and out-of-date versions of services can be found here. Please read and comment as soon as possible.
  4. No data in ROC and RC daily/weekly reports
Because of SAM problems with Oracle, synchronization of data with CIC DB is broken. So, sorry but no failures in reports doesn’t mean that there was no failures on your sites ;) Problem is under investigation.
  5. Changes in data retrieving from GOC DB - from direct db connections to web services

Everyone who get data from GOC DB for their tools or for something else, are pleased to write a mail to Gilles Mathieu (gilles.mathieu at stfc.ac.uk) with informations:

    • list of input parameters (e.g. site name, downtime id, ROC name…)
    • list of output parameters (list of contacts, nodes, downtime info…)
    • if possible, SQL query used

This informations are required to standardize data access for external tools and clients. This will be done by progressively replacing all direct DB connections by a standard interface and the use of web services. There is no deadline, but the sooner the better. GOCDB detailed study for the use of web services is due to be out at the end of October. Especially this information concern SAMAP tool.
